The introduction of the Degree Online Services Telangana DOST) The portal was meant to facilitate the college admission process for students from across the state. However, various issues have cropped up, leaving many parents and students frustrated and demotivated. Issues vary from delayed verifications to technical issues that impede the submission of applications, ultimately impacting the future of the students.

A parent of Secundrabad complained about his problem as follows: “I want my son to apply for BCA or BBA through DOST, but despite repeated attempts, we were unable to apply.” This echoes the sentiments of many families yearning for their children to fill up slots in good degree programs. Sadly, these ambitions are being frustrated by uncertainty as to when verification procedures shall be finalized and when applications shall be submitted successfully.

Additionally, technical glitches in the form of special character problems only add to the woes. “Even we attempted to fill in the ‘Write to us’ application; it gives special character errors,” he added. These recurring issues have left everyone disappointed. It was thought that DOST would streamline the admissions process; instead, it has turned into an ordeal and a puzzle.

Several Telangana degree colleges recognize that though DOST has promise as a strong online service, it is presently bedeviled by glitches that must be given priority.  One college principal said that if DOST could iron out these problems, it would greatly improve graduation admissions in the area. The tone is unmistakable: a streamlined system could bring more students if done properly.

In addition to this, there is a back-of-the-mind worry about the pending NEP education policy in Telangana. With the issue of four-year undergraduate degree programs being promoted for the NEP picking up, parents such as Mr. Stayanarayana Reddy from Alwal are hesitant about sending their kids to three-year courses such as BCA or BBA due to incompatibility with educational plans abroad in the future. He expressed his wish for his daughter to take up one of these courses but mentioned how this three-year course made him rethink his choices: “If we choose MS overseas, it does not meet full education year’s completion requirements.”

The urgency for the Higher Education Department of Telangana cannot be exaggerated; they have to respond to these issues quickly and effectively. Students need to be able to complete the online application process smoothly without going through unnecessary barriers or delays in verification.

It is important not just for prospective applicants now but also for establishing a nurturing environment of education where future generations will not be bogged down by bureaucratic delays. Bringing awareness among parents and students about 4-year graduation subjects and their importance will increase admissions.
